Often held on a major holiday like Christmas or Thanksgiving (though they may not necessarily be restricted to holidays), family gatherings are essentially a means of reconnecting with one's relatives – especially your immediate family. As we all very well know, having a good relationship with one's family is often tantamount to one's sense of well-being. People who come from families who are happy and close are more likely to be well-balanced individuals after all. That being said, however, having bonding time with one's family just plain feels good, which is why it is very important that family gatherings be not only attended by all members concerned (which would preferably be all of them), but also have an atmosphere that would be conducive to all members bonding with each other.
         For family gatherings to be truly wonderful, they would have to be memorable to all people concerned. And of course, the way to do this is to be organized, but not so much so that people will feel like their freedom is being curtailed.
